The geometric condition of the retroreflective marking measuring instrument is to simulate the situation when a car is driving on a highway at night, and the car headlights illuminate the markings made of retroreflective materials on the road surface, which are reflected and observed by the driver sitting in the car cab.
The angle between the optical axis of the headlight and the normal line of the road surface (reference axis) is called the incident angle (β), which is specified as 88.76°; the angle between the optical axis of the headlight and the retroreflective light is called the observation angle (a), which is specified as 1.05°. The light source and optical system project the light onto the marking line at the incident angle. The size of the marking line to be measured is 300mmx60mm. The light reflected from the marking line is reflected at an observation angle (a) of 1.05° and then detected and collected by the V (λ) filter. After being processed, it is displayed on the measurement value display, which is the measured value of the retroreflection coefficient (R').
